This petition calls for the induction of country music legend, Wynn Stewart, to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Stewart was one of the forefathers of the legendary Bakersfield sound, using the classic honky tonk style while borrowing stylistic elements of rock 'n roll to create one of the most recognizable sounds in country music.

With songs like "Playboy," "Big, Big Love," "Another Day, Another Dollar," and the 1968 ACM song of the year, "It's Such A Pretty World Today" Stewart influenced legends Buck Owens and Merle Haggard and other artists such as Dwight Yoakam, Dale Watson, and Alan Jackson.

Despite his untimely death, Stewart's career spanned over three decades and helped create one of the most popular sub-genres of country music that has continued to influence artists well into the 21st century.

We, the undersigned, ask that country music legend and forefather of the Bakersfield Sound Wynn Stewart be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Stewart's work stands out among the popular country artists of the 1950s and '60s and songs like the 1968 ACM country song of the year, "It's Such A Pretty World Today" influenced some of the most recognizable artists in country music who have been inducted into the hall of fame.

We feel that Stewart's induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame is long past due and that this country music icon is more than deserving of one of country music's most prestigious honors.
