Lou Christie began singing with backing vocals session work when he moved to New York in 1963. Lou's incredible Frankie Valliesque Falsetto soon made him a name in the industry. His first big break hit was his debut single, "The Gypsy Cried" in 1963. This single was a mega million seller for Christie.

In 1964, Lou repeated the success run of his first hit with "Two Faces Have I". Due to being drafted, his career was pre-empted. However in 1966 he returned with his finest release ever, "Lightnin Strikes". This song gave him his nickname of "Lightnin' Lou". Also that year (1966), he released the follow up to this, "Rhapsody In The Rain", which also was a top selling single. What followed next was another signature big hit song for Lou, "I'm Gonna Make You Mine", in 1969. In 1971, Lou released his "Paint America Love" Lp.
