David Gates and Bread were founded in 1968 on the west coast in California. The band members are: David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, Mike Botts, Larry Knechtel, and Robb Royer. The group pioneered the most unique sweet soft rock sound with Gates' beautiful falsetto lead vocals fronting the group. The group Bread racked up an incredible Million Seller string of hits in the early 1970's. The groups globally recognized top charted hit songs include: "Make It With You", "Baby I'm A Want You", "If", "Everything I Own", "It Don't Matter To Me", "Aubrey", "Diary", "The Guitar Man", "Sweet Surrender", and Gates' solo, "The Goodbye Girl". All songs were focused on love, and issues of the heart. This created a great connection with their listening audience, and overall appeal.
David Gates and Bread are great 1970's Icons, and are legendary components of this era in entertainement.
