The population of Tarneit, Trugannina and Hoppers Crossing is rapidly growing but the facilities that are required are not matching the growth rate. Approxiamately 54,000 people use the Warun Pounds to Southern Cross Line during the week, the train is at capacity by the time it reaches Tarneit. Students and commuters are squeezing into already full trains to make it to work or university on time, however they are also facing another issue; parking fines. VLine is puncturing holes into the pockets of students and employees with parking tickets that start at $97. With only 1000 parking spaces available which are often full by 7.30am, commuters have no option but to park on the nature strips or gravel areas. It is a desperate game of Russian roulette for many, take the risk of parking on restricted area to make it to work or university on time and just hope that there isn't a fine waiting on your car.  VLine and the Labour Government knows that the infrastructure required is not available and on many occasions have spoken about the exploration of options for increasing space at the Tarneit railway, the latest being in June of 2018. After a protest mid 2018 and many complaints, 2000 fines are still given on average every year since 2015. This is an incredibly unreasonable burden. Taxi services to and from Tarneit railway is expensive and buses are unreliable and never synchronised with VLine timetables. A change is required. It is clear that parking lots will not be built over night but VLine and the government needs to meet its customers and residents halfway by waiving the fines or introducing a payment system. This is unjust and a total abuse of power. We deserve better.

I am urging you to sign this petition in order to get VLine's attention to provide space or at the very least payment method for parking.
