Target:
Ministry of Finance and Public Service, Prime Minister of Jamaica,
Region:
Jamaica

In Jamaica the unsung public sector heroes have served their country with stalwart, unconditional and dedicated service some for thirty plus years in the name of country and fellowman. Many of the retired police officers, nurses, teachers, soldiers, public sector servants have been forced to live in abject poverty...having to choose between medication and food. These are not healthy, strong bodied people who depend on handouts...these are persons who have served Jamaica...they have paid their dues. These heroes have given of their youthful lives and in their twilight years should live in dignity, and honour commensurate with the service they gave to Jamaica.
It breaks my heart to see persons who in the prime of their service who were shakers and creators of this country...now I see them broken, desperate and frustrated. Jamaica we have failed these persons...Their pensions ought to be increased proportionately to the inflation rate or in our case the devalued dollar. How much could it be? These stalwarts have just a few years to live...let us give them the honour they deserve...Increase their benefits so that they can live in dignity and rest in peace...

We, the undersigned, call on the Prime Minister of Jamaica and the Ministry of Finance and Public Service and all other stakeholders (with the requisite authority) to lobby for and implement the increase of pension benefits and monthly stipends of ALL Public Servants who have served this country of ours...Jamaica commensurate with today's cost of living,,so that they can live their twilight years with the dignity they have earned.
