United States of America

In order for you to feel comfortable in signing this petition we need to go back and discuss certain areas that have been affected with great tragedy.

Let’s start with the Columbine High School massacre of 1999, yet another incident where a school was yet unprepared for such evil destruction. On April 20, 1999 two senior students named Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold murdered a total of 12 students and 1 teacher. They also injured 21 further students, with three other people being injured attempting to escape the school. How and why was “access” to this school so easily gained and why were faculty not armed to stop this from happening? I believe that if all their teachers were trained in self-defense and only “certain” teachers who passed a highly intensive training course and were cleared to carry concealed handguns the two gunmen would have been detained with swift and immediate attention and the killed and or injured would have been less.

Last, Sandy Hook Elementary. Where a gunman Adam Lanza 20, shot and killed 20 students and 6 teachers. I believe "All" teachers need to have basic Self-Defense and hostage class training in order to teach in our classrooms in Texas. After the hiring process is complete the new teacher is given so many weeks to complete a basic self-defense class taught and paid for by the school district. Then, certified police officers as well as the school board will hand select a "few teachers" from each school in the district where the select teacher will remain unidentified to come together and take "excelled" classes in self-defense and hostage situations and be certified to carry a concealed handgun during school hours.

We, the undersigned, as well does Thomas L. Bordelon (Republican from Texas), call on the State of Texas and its 82nd Legislature to demand that a law is signed immediately into effect that all teachers need to have basic Self-Defense and hostage class training prior to teaching in Texas.

After the hiring process is complete, the new teacher is given so many weeks to complete a basic self-defense class taught and paid for by the school district. Then, certified police officers as well as the school board will hand select a "few teachers" from each school in the district where the select teacher will remain unidentified for safety reasons to come together and take "excelled" classes in self-defense and hostage situations and be certified to carry a concealed handgun during school hours. The "select" teachers must also receive special training in crisis situations and must use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.

Our children deserve peace of mind while studying. They deserve the upmost attention and safety. Please make your voice heard by signing the petition below.
