Mechanical broadheads have long been prohibited in the state of Idaho for several reasons. When mechanical broadheads begin to appear as an option for hunters, many questions and concerns existed ranging from malfunction, to poor penetration. These concerns were indeed valid at one point in time.

Today's mechanical broadheads have stood the test of time! Research has proven that recovery rates are higher with mechanical broadheads. Enhanced technology provides for deep penetration and reliability of function. In fact, research has proven that mechanical broadheads are less prone than fixed blade heads to veer off target.

While some hunters appreciate the simplicity of fixed blade broadheads and would never change from what they know, many others would like to embrace the advantages of the mechanical broadhead. With the significantly larger wound channels provided by mechanical broadheads as well as the increased accuracy, archers are less likely to wound animals in a manner that is not quickly fatal.

Mechanical broadheads are permitted across the United States with the exception of Idaho and Oregon. It's time that the Idaho Fish and Game, allowed hunters the opportunity to take advantage of the many high quality options that exist in our pursuit of ethical, and responsible hunting.

Please sign this petition as a notice to the Idaho Fish and Game that we respectfully request a renewed look at allowing mechanical broadheads in this great state.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the Idaho Department of Fish and Game reconsider permitting expandable (mechanical) broadheads for archery hunting in Idaho.
