This petition of Australian citizens draws to the attention of the House: our strong support for a price on carbon.
It makes sense to put a price on pollution so there are incentives within the Australian economy to invest in low-carbon technology.
We will adapt. We will manage, We will continue to be leaders and innovators to create a clean energy future, because we are Australian!
We are a lucky country and have abundant sources of renewable energy, including geothermal and solar energy.
But without pricing carbon, these markets won't flourish.
The world is going to change whether we like it not because of climate change.
The cost will be greater to our economy and our families if we don't act now.
Let us be prepared.
Please deal with facts, not fear, when making decisions about our future.
