On several occasions we have asked the Minister of Health and Social Development, Hon. Carvin Malone, to provide credible data about the Astra-Zeneca vaccine being administered to the citizens of the British Virgin Islands. He continues to deviate from any line of questioning concerning the health risks of taking the vaccine as well as the most recent deaths, being associated with taking the vaccine. He continues to deny that within the near future, mandatory vaccination may be placed on the table for review and possibly approved. It has been reported, that the sudden rise in cases of the COVID-19 virus within the Territory stemmed from residents and visitors who are deemed to be fully vaccinated. The vaccine is neither a cure nor does it suppress the virus and we do not wish to partake in such a cruel disservice to our health, well-being and our rights as citizens of this Territory.
The Government must be completely clear to the public about the reason behind taking the vaccine and their intentions. Their lack of empathy, moral obligations and forced micromanaged democracy will undoubtedly affect societal cohesion and the economic recovery.
We want the Government to commit to upholding the human rights of the people of the Territory of the Virgin Islands (UK). We stand for the truth and our equal rights! Forced vaccinations guided by fear mongering will not be tolerated and with this petition, we take a stand to ensure that we remain free to choose what we know is in our best interest as a people.
