The Kenya Hockey Union has gone against an agreement with the majority hockey clubs in Kenya on the need to have the league format on a home & away basis for the 2012 season.
The league is now one-leg and teams will play less than 11 matches for the whole 2012 season. The union has instead increased the registration fees for players and clubs and has restricted the use of City Park hockey stadium to rich clubs only.
We, the undersigned, call on the Ministry of Sports (Kenya) to instruct the Kenya Hockey Union to stop the 2012 league and convene a round-table meeting with clubs to agree on an acceptable league format.
