Many people are suffering with the downfall of the economy these couple of years. One of the three biggest states suffering in Michigan. Detroit being its biggest city is the one that's getting hit the hardest.
In April 2009 the unemployment rate increased to 23% of Detroiters being unemployed. That's almost one-fourth of the Detroit population. Detroit is known for being the motor city, which makes the "big three" employing most of the population here.
With them hurting and the financial crisis that they have been through they have had to cut down on workers. Which has had a huge impact on us as not only as a city or state, but as a country as a whole.
We the people of Detroit are seeking help from our government's elected officials to help us fight to get the unemployment benefits to come back and help those who need it the most.
Many unemployed workers have been questioning what will happen next after congress comes back on April 12th. A lot could happen many peoples lives are in their hands. That's why we ask you; our elected official to help us fight for the benefits we deserve.
Many issues are on the agenda for congress to decide on and the extension of benefits should be one that they should closely look at.
