My daughter has recently been diagnosed with 22 Q deletion syndrome. The professionals all say that she should be treated by a team of specialist who know and understand the condition and treatment!
Our pediatrician feels that our daughter should be treated by a handful of physicians who have been thrown together from around the local area. These doctors do not work with this condition daily and I'm sure are not as knowledgeable as a clinic that specializes in this condition and treatment.
I have found the perfect 22 Q clinic in Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus Ohio, however the pediatrician says by good conscience she cannot write a medical necessity form allowing our insurance to cover her treatment because she claims there are local physicians who are willing to treat her and it's not medically necessary to take her out of area.
This is clearly a disappointment.
