We closed this petition and opted for another one closer to home the USA... so far we have far more signatures on it.
Colton Calhoun, now 23 was convicted at age 20 for rape in the State of Oregon.
Colton did not date his accuser or her best friend. They were friends as such however he would not cede to demands she made of him. He dumped his supposed girlfriend long before he was arrested and charged.
Do you see what is coming?
He is inside and won’t be released until 2012. No gain-time for good behavior at all.
It is bad enough to be convicted and have done this horrendous crime, to be convicted and not done the crime is a crime in itself.
Imagine your son, grandson being in prison for something they did not and vehemently deny?
To make matters worse the original lawyer refused to allow Colton or anyone there to defend him to testify on Colton’s behalf. To then find out this lawyer has been fired prior to taking on his case boggles the mind.
Colton’s mom and dad have spent thousands trying to bring justice to this matter.

We the undersigned demand the immediate release of Colton Calhoun;
We the undersigned demand a new trial be provided the accused;
We the undersigned demand Oregon State Legislators review the Laws in force in Oregon on Rape and Sexual abuse to ensure they do not provide the accuser with the ability to use said laws to “get-even” or vengeful with an individual they have been associated with;
We the undersigned along with Colton Calhoun agree rape is a horrendous crime and agree the perpetrator of such a crime deserves to be punished;
We the undersigned demand both parties be dealt with fairly, that is the Laws in the State of Oregon must not provide an unfair advantage to one against another in attempting to protect one from this horrendous crime;
We the undersigned demand the Laws in the State of Oregon provide the Courts with means to punish an individual who uses the Law in a vengeful manner, that is the perpetrator must also be prepared to serve the same punishment as the accused if found guilty by a Court of their peers.
