DURING THE AUGUST 27, 2020 GROVEPORT MADISON (GM) LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING, PRESIDENT LIBBY GRAY,PRESENTED A MOTION TO DISCONTINUE AUDIO RECORDING SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS; by a three to two vote ( yes Libby Gray , Nancy Gillespie, Chris Snyder: No: Kathleen Walsh, LaToya Delldow-Burger ) the motion passed. GM School Board Meetings will no longer be recorded by audio.
When President Gray was ask why she was presenting this motion she gave no indication that any stakeholder had ask that School Board Meetings Not Be Recorded.
During the meeting two members of the Board Said that they have used meeting audio record(s) to help in the performance of their duties. One member stated that meeting recordings were used in another manner. In the past audio recordings have been utilized to correct inaccurate meeting minutes.
Recordings of GM Local School Board Meetings must be immediately reinstated to ensure accuracy and transparency with all stakeholders.
WHEREAS DURING THE AUGUST 27, 2020 GROVEPORT MADISON ( GM ) LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING , PRESIDENT LIBBY GRAY, PRESENTED A MOTION TO DISCONTINUE AUDIO RECORDING SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS: by a three to two vote ( yes Libby Gray, Nancy Gillespie, Chris Snyder: No: Kathleen Walsh, LaToya Delldow-Burger ) the motion passed. GM School Board Meetings will no longer be recorded by audio.
Whereas for the following reasons concerned citizens request that GM Local School Board immediately reinstate the practice of audio recording and maintaining said recordings of GM Local School Board of Education Meetings:
* Not all concerned citizens can attend meetings durring the scheduled time:
*Assures the accuracy of meeting minutes:
*Improves accessibility of School Board Meetings
*Improves communication to residents of GM School Boards forthcoming plans and projects:
*Improves transparency in the decision-making process of the School Board
*Provides a complement to formal minutes:
*Maintaining a more detailed historical record of meetings than formal minutes alone offer.
Whereas for the above reasons the undersigned concerned citizens are requesting that GM Local School Board immediately resume audio recording of all GM Local School Board Meetings, maintaining those audios for for no less than five years and begin the practice of video recording GM Local School Board of Education Meetings, maintaining those videos no less than two years
