Grandfather in Age Change Rules So That No Girl Loses a Year of Eligibility

As a result of new age cutoff rules enacted by Dixie Softball in 2017, any girl born between January 1 and August 31 will lose a year of eligibility. In 2017, the player's cutoff date is December 31. In 2018, the cutoff date changes to March 31. In 2019, the cutoff date changes to August 31.

In contrast, when Dixie Youth Baseball enacted similar age changes in 2016, all current players were grandfathered in and none of them lost a year of eligibility.

In its rule book, Dixie Softball states that "[t]he main purpose of the program is to provide a recreation outlet for as many as possible with emphasis on local league play rather than tournament play." In the spirit of fulfilling this mission, Dixie Softball must grandfather in the current players.
