On the 4th of March, 2011, the United Nations declared that access to the internet and social media is a human right, and it would, therefore, be a violation of international human rights to disconnect anyone from these necessities. As many people who have used or currently do use social media, it would surely be understandable to recognise the urgency for a teenager, including Madeleine, to have access as well. Madeleine was isolated from all contact with her peers, acquaintances and people of her age in 2016 for several months simply because Sophia would not allow her to. This is unfair, disgusting, and a violation of international human rights. Madeleine was enabled access to social media since, until Sunday the 19th of March, 2017, when she was falsely accused of being misbehaved and had her phone confiscated. She has been suffering immense anxiety, depression, FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and mental dissociation. This suffering can not last any longer.

Madeleine feels an end will come to her suffering and violation of human rights very soon, but we need your help to make that end become a reality as soon as possible. We call upon anyone who reads this petition to send loving, compassionate support to Madeleine in this dark period, and to share her story in hopes that light is brought to the matter that is teenagers being disconnected from their friends and acquaintances for long periods of time.
