Some time ago I started this petition on GetUp's Community Run website:

The petition has grown slowly.
GetUp and the ACF could send this petition to hundreds of thousands of their members, but they choose not to. Since this is about achieving humane and sustainable outcomes we need to show GetUp and the ACF that they owe us their pro-active support.
It's about the need for a public inquiry into the humanitarian and sustainability problems, both domestically and globally, that are caused by Australia's extreme population growth. All the major parties support extreme population growth without question, as do the media, including the ABC.
This petition is simply asking for an unbiased and open analysis to at least attempt to honestly determine what the optimum rate of population growth should be for Australia.
We want GetUp and the ACF to send this petition to the hundreds of thousands of their members, to show that they proactively support the humane and sustainable objectives that could be achieved by a Public Inquiry To Determine A Basis For The Optimum Rate Of Population Growth" that is free from political interference.
The UN currently predicts a global human population of somewhere between 3 billion and 24 billion by 2150! There is no plan. This is effectively a recipe for uncontrolled chaos.
In the recent past politicians and the media have failed to evaluate this issue in Australia with due diligence. We need GetUp and the ACF to recognise the importance of the issue, as to ignore it represents a fundamental conflict of interest for them which has no ethical justification.
