Anthony Ray Johnson is 36 year old man who was sentenced to 75 years on June 19, 1996 for an aggravated assault charge he did not commit. His release date is set for April 21, 2069 and he is not eligible for parole until April 21, 2024.

Supposedly Anthony R. Johnson robbed a group of three, two caucasian males and a caucasian female with a weapon. At the time of the trial Anthony was given a court appointed lawyer who did not represent him to the fullest. At the time our family couldn't afford a lawyer.

When the female that was robbed testified in court she was asked if the man that robbed her has a gold tooth and she said "no" when she asked was she sure she said "yes". Anthony R. Johnson clearly had a gold tooth. On the night of this crime Anthony Ray Johnson was at work on the other side of town and his Supervisor even vouched for him. Mr. Johnson at the time was a young man in his early twenties and much of his youth has been taken away for something he did not do.

He is not a bad person he is very warm, loving and caring man and wouldn't harm anyone. His release date is pretty much a life sentence and his parole date is not much better. He did not have a fair trial and he was misrepresented and he needs to be released, 12 years is long enough!

Along with our genuine sympathy for the family and friends of the victims, we the undersigned are also extremely concerned that a terrible injustice has been done to Anthony Ray Johnson, TDCJ #762604. We strongly believe in his innocence and pray that in the interest of truth and justice the State of Texas will give him his freedom.

We plead for a full and unconditional pardon to be granted on behalf of Anthony Ray Johnson.
