The Wokingham borough villages of Spencers Wood, Three Mile Cross, Ryeish Green, Shinfield, Grazeley, Swallowfield, Riseley, Arborfield and Farley Hill require a Secondary School, as the default options for our area are Bulmershe or Emmbrook, both a long way for our children to travel.

Wokingham Borough Council only have plans to provide us with a Secondary School by relocating Emmbrook to the Arborfield Garrison site and the MoDs decision to relinquish the site is on hold. Therefore, it is unlikely that Arborfield will have a secondary school for many years to come.

Therefore, we are gathering support for the idea of opening a free Secondary school, ideally using the redundant site at Ryeish Green.

This is an opportunity for us as a community to take control of our children's Secondary Education, and create a school that embraces the community spirit of all the surrounding villages. No one wants the upheaval and cost of moving to get into a better catchment area, so lets create an alternative.

If you have children who would attend this new school, and support the idea, please sign the petition below. Likewise, if you belong to the community and would like to see the return of a local Secondary, please sign below.

We, the undersigned, support the application to open a Free School to provide secondary education to children of the villages west of Wokingham.
