According to HRANA, Iranian actress Marzieh Vafamehr, wife of film director and screenwriter Nasser Taghvai, was arrested two weeks ago in Tehran and remains in detention.
So far the authorities haven't informed the family of Marzieh Vafamehr about the reasons for her arrest. However, it is believed this is due to her acting in Granaz Moussavi's film My Tehran for Sale and appearing without hijab in a scene.
My Tehran For Sale hasn't received screening license from the authorities, but it has been distributed in Tehran regardless.
We the Undersigned demand the following:
1) Call on Iranian Judiciary to refrain from due process violations and instead adhere to its Constitutional and International obligations.
2) Call on Iranian Judiciary to allow Marzieh Vafamehr to contact her family, seek legal advice and communicate the reasons for her arrest to her in writing IAW Article 32 of Iran's constitution.
3) Demand the immediate and unconditional release of Marzieh Vafamehr since no charge has been brought against her within the first 24 hours of her arrest.
