Free Gary Ward

In 1994 my brother was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Mark White, a hotel porter working in Blackpool, alongside my brother was James Docherty who was his co accused.

Mark White was badly beaten and stamped upon and eventually drowned in the sea. My brother was 19 years old at the time and was working as a doorman in Blackpool, both him and Docherty were arrested and charged with Mark White's murder. My brother maintained his innocence all along, there was no DNA or Forensic evidence linking him to the deceased.

Whilst on remand my brother's pregnant girlfriend was threatened at gun point and told that if my brother didn't stay quiet she would be murdered, my brother obliged. Docherty received 7 years for Manslaughter, however upon his release in 2001 he committed murder yet again, he stamped and kicked Nicholas Tyldsley to death in Blackpool. The Lord justice Wilkie described the two murders as "Chillingly similar" when setting Dochertys minimum term at 16 years. I wrote to Kenneth Clarke and i am trying to enlist a solicitor on a pro bono basis.

Gary's clothing and evidence were destroyed one year after the conviction when they should of been stored for 5 years. Gary Ward is an innocent man suffering a cruel injustice .
