Foad Sojoudi Farimani, Amir Kabir University student who had been banned from continuing his education, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison. He was detained on September 14th while he had been admitted to Amir Kabir University for pursuing his PhD. He was later released on bail.
According to the Human Rights House of Iran, he had spent 45 days in solitary confinement. After his release, he was admitted to the psychiatric unit of Mehregan Hospital for the psychological pressure he had endured during his arrest.
His lawyer has been served with the verdict but his family is not willing to participate in an interview.
