Whereas Liberia needs to keep its peace for the common good of all citizens;
Whereas we as people have not been able to feed ourselves;
Whereas Liberia wholly depends on foreign nations to produce food for its citizens;
Whereas citizens are sending all they work for to feign nations in exchange for food;
Whereas Liberia cannot be developed in the absence of local food production;
Whereas Food security is possible when Liberians produce and promote local food production;
Whereas Socio-economic development would be achieved if we were able to feed ourselves;
Whereas Liberia is a signatory to the Malabo declaration to invest at least 10% of its annual budget in agriculture;
Whereas other nations that signed up to the Malabo Declaration are implementing it;
Whereas we must keep the integrity and dignity of Liberia; and
Whereas our dignity as a country can only be maintained when we are able to feed ourselves through Agriculture;
We the citizens of Liberia request as stated below:
We, the undersigned, call on the Government of Liberia to Increase the budget for Agriculture to at least 25 million United States Dollars this year (2020) and strive to raise the budget for agriculture to at least 10% of the annual budget by 2021.
