Mr. Garland was charged and convicted of 1st degree murder along with a co-defendant. He was sentenced to life and the co-defendant 9 to 20 years. Mr. Garland proclaimed his innocence and was held a couple days by the Philadelphia Detectives @ 8th & Race Streets until he was forced to sign a statement he never made. Recently Mr. Garland was surprised to have received a notarized affidavit from the co-defendant proclaiming Mr. Garland innocence.
