The Splash pad at the Peach King Centre in the Town of Grimsby could be a fun place for children to cool down on a summer's day. However, the proximity of the splash pad to the access roads of the Peach King Centre creates significant safety concerns for families with young children. The fences surrounding the splash pad are insufficient to provide a safe enclosure for young children and sections of the fence open within feet of the road. These factors could create the circumstances in which a child could be in the path of an oncoming vehicle within seconds of playing in the splash pad. As parents and caregivers of young children, we want to be able to bring our young children to the Peach King splash pad and know that their safety is considered. We petition the Town Manager to ensure a safe environment for our children by providing a fully-fenced enclosure surrounding the Peach King splash pad.
We, the undersigned, call on the Town of Grimsby to provide a fully fenced enclosure surrounding the Peach King splash pad. Presently, the existing fence enclosure has gaps that could allow a young child to inadvertently run into the path of traffic within meters of the splash pad. We petition the Town of Grimsby to provide a safe environment for our children by providing a fully-fenced enclosure surrounding the Peach King splash pad thus ensuring that this location can be enjoyed by all families.
