We, the undersigned, wish to establish the hours of Daylight Saving Time (herein referred to as "DST") as a permanent practice in Kansas.

Having a consistent time schedule is the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Medical professionals all over the world are working to gain awareness regarding the importance of establishing habits that will improve the population's quality of life. Healthy diets and daily exercise are expected to become routine. In 2016, DST spanned 34 weeks and 1 day. With the considerable variation in how long it takes individuals to reach automaticity, is it logical to expect that 34+1 weeks is a reasonable amount of time to build a habit that is expected to continue throughout the entirety of one's life? Furthermore, consideration must be given to the amount of time it will have taken to break the habit of the time change occurring in the beginning of DST.

Physical health is only one realm of concern with time change; mental health has become an obstacle in thousands of lives. Depression and anxiety are prevailing. America is ever more aware of the growing rate of suicide among its citizens. Mental health cannot be regarded irrelevant. It is imperative that those who suffer with mental illness keep as many components of their lives as constant as possible. Changing the time does not support the acknowledgement that mental illness has become an epidemic.

We, the undersigned, demand attention to the issue of doing away with hours of Standard Time. Our time is a gift given to each of us. Let us be wise by not wasting another moment adjusting to the disruption unnecessary changes bring to our lives.
