Enes Kanter, future NBA superstar and one of the world’s biggest wrestling fans, was recently ruled ineligible to compete for the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. Kanter’s current plans are to remain with the team and appeal the ruling.
Enes can often be seen wearing wrestling paraphernalia and even made a splash at UK’s first public appearance in Rupp Arena this season when he donned a cowboy hat and appeared amid the smoke and organ music normally associated with his favorite wrestler, The Undertaker.
In two months, the WWE will be in the same Rupp Arena for a “Smackdown Live!” event.
We, the undersigned, call upon World Wrestling Entertainment to involve Enes Kanter in your January 8th, 2011 event in Lexington’s Rupp Arena.
Big Blue Nation is not asking that Enes walk out of Rupp Arena wearing a gold strap that night (although that would be awesome); we simply want one more chance to cheer for him before he moves on to bigger things, and we want to see Enes live out a dream. Even a cursory look at his background will show you he’s one of your biggest fans and someday hopes to join your organization. Enes actually wrestling is probably out of the question, but we know your writers can script a storyline that will make Enes the feature attraction in Rupp Arena that night, even if he doesn’t have to jump from a turnbuckle or swing a steel chair.
Involving Enes will not just help him realize a dream and bring a smile to the face of Big Blue Nation. His participation will also make your show the most anticipated event in Rupp Arena this season (seriously, have you seen out home schedule?) Not only will his appearance bring a sold out venue and extra media attention, you will make friends with a rabid fan base loyal to those who are good to us.
So, make it happen WWE. Make it happen for Big Blue Nation. Make it happen for World Wrestling Entertainment. And make it happen for Enes Kanter.
