"The U.S. is rich in the conditions favorable for renewable power production," according to McKinsey & Company's 2007, "U.S. Greenhouse Gas Abatement Mapping Initiative."

Their study also concludes that more efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment for residential use could abate 55 megatons of carbon monoxide emissions per year. Likewise, commercial buildings could abate 45 megatons of carbon monoxide, totaling in the abatement of 100 megatons of CO2 annually. Advanced geothermal technologies in HVAC should be recognized as key components in this reduction.

Geothermal heating and air conditioning is one of the least publicized, yet most promising green technology currently available. It needs to be included in new energy bill legislation.

It is of great democratic value that individuals participate in the production of their own energy resources.

We, the undersigned, call for renewable energies, including wind, solar, and geothermal technologies, to be part of the government incentivized programs that will promote energy independence and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Those incentives should include sizeable tax deductions, credits, exemptions, grants, and government-backed financing toward the production and use of these technologies.
