We the undersigned call for a complete repeal of all blasphemy laws.
Despite Asia Bibi's exoneration there still many blasphemy accused in prison, and awaiting death. In December 2018, two Christian brothers were sentenced to death for a fabricated blasphemy charge. Religious minorities especially suffer from these laws, and they are used as a threat to hang over the heads of vulnerable people.
Innocent Pakistani's are spending years in prison for something they did not do, after blasphemy laws are exploited.
Blasphemy laws are a blight on the reputation of Pakistan and an outdated colonial tool that was meant to keep the peace between different people. Instead they teach intolerance and hate.
