Recording a genre-specific album using seasoned recording professionals isn't a new concept to Ween. Nor is Reggae music, since Ween has recorded several unique and widely appreciated Reggae tracks such as Nicole, Fruit Man, and King Billy.
12 Golden Country Greats is Ween's fifth album, which marked the first time Ween limited themselves mostly to a specific genre of music. Bringing in a wide variety of seasoned (and sometimes legendary) Nashville musicians (including Charlie McCoy, Buddy Spicher, Bobby Ogdin and The Jordanaires), the album sought to recreate the sound of golden-age country music with a great amount of success, while also combining this sound with classic Ween.
We would love to see these guys take a long, long vacation, where new horizons can be met. We might even consider raising some money for this if we get any sort of response. This petition is to display our interest in the concept- in short, by signing, you are saying "Hell Yes! I'd buy that CD! I'd buy the Documentary!, I'd buy that T-shirt! I'd buy that ashtray! I'd buy that poster! I'd buy those branded sirloin steaks! I'd buy that clever shopping eco-tote! I'd sing those songs! I'd play that album on a first date! I'd go see that tour live while living in a Vanagon! That's what you will be saying, when you make your pledge today.
We, the undersigned, call upon the Boognish to send WEEN to Jamaica and/or other tropical destinations abroad to forge new bonds, branch out, record music drawing from new experiences, sunshine, positive vibrations, and the love of the Boognish from above, working with recording artists such a Tuff Lion and/or other baddasses, still living and jamming, on the Jamaica scene. People that won't be around forever, but are quick to teach, easy to love and befriend, generous with their knowledge, and sometimes in need of a gig.
