My husband and I watched the first presidential debate last night and felt that the moderator was too easy on both candidates, but especially Trump.

We need someone who is not part of the media establishment and who does not stand to gain, directly or indirectly, from the advertising revenues generated by these events.

In the old days, before television companies took over the debates, they were moderated by the League of Women Voters, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that ran decorous, rational debates. Voters got a realistic picture of the candidates and learned their position on issues of interest to everyone.

We realize that one person cannot undo all the harm that has accrued due to the commercialization of this debate process, but having someone of the stature of Senator Elizabeth Warren as moderator would go a long way. She is the person we would like to moderate at least one of the upcoming presidential debates.

We need a strong, intelligent and informed person to moderate at least one of these debates. Senator Elizabeth Warren, of Massachusetts, a tireless advocate for the rights of working people, children and the poor, satisfies all of these criteria.

The next presidential debate is October 9, 2016, so time is of the essence.
