In 2005, 11,346 persons were killed by firearm violence and 477,040 persons were victims of a crime committed with a firearm.

Most murders in the United States are committed with firearms, especially handguns.

Yearly, firearms are used in 68 percent of murders, 42 percent of robbery offenses and 22 percent of aggravated assaults nationwide.

We, the undersigned, call on congress to restrict and or make difficult both the manufacturing and purchase of handguns, semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, long guns, shot guns, and rifles by limiting the quantity of firearms made yearly and restricting purchases by adding requirements of age, criminal records, education achievements, and anything more congress sees appropriate.
