Permission to obtain a driver's license in the United states is based on age and a simple exam.

But I beleive that it should be based on a factor that is more closely tied to maturity of drivers than just age.

We, the undersigned, believe that Driver's licenses should only be obtained if you have a high school diploma. That way immature teens who drop out and are far more likely to drink and drive will not be able to drive.

This system would almost completely stop drinking and reckless behavior in the car. It also creates an incentive for students to do really well in school, because if they work hard in school and manage to skip a grade, then they can drive a year earlier.
