There's no doubt that Australia wants original television shows written for Australians. But Tricky Business sets a terrible example. It is a poorly developed show with emotionless, nonsensical plots, pushing no boundaries and demonstrates purely lazy writing.
A petition to buoy the show well past its used by date (http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/save-tricky-business.html) will only undermine and dilute the slate of quality TV drama programming that Australia has produced in the past - think Offspring, The Slap, Tangle, Spirited, Satisfaction, Love My way just to name a few.
These are all well written programs that are a better example of the TV Australians want to see and show to the world.
Dear Channel Nine,
Please do not renew Tricky Business.
Instead invest the talents of these Australian actors and crew onto other projects. Invest more time in quality writing that is carefully and assiduously developed.
Punish bad programming, and don't reward it.
