The United States Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica has confirmed that Jamaicans spent over twenty five million in the beginning of this year on application fee for visa. However, their are a number of issues applicants face during their visits to the only Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica. Some of which are the lack of proper parking facilities that should provide a sense of security to applicants property. Often times applicants are traveling from far distances to get to the Embassy and need to keep in contact with family members. They are disappointed when they realize there isn’t a parking lot provided during the interview process. Applicants recommend that the Embassy should provide shuttle buses that will take persons from one point to the Embassy and back to that point.

Applicants also complained that they are paying too much money to be ignorant about personalized items that are not allowed to enter the embassy with them. For example: an umbrella or cell phones . They are only informed on the interview day by strange bystanders. Applicants are then forced to pay a “thing” to these stranger bystanders to store personal items who they have never seen before and also trust that they will receive their personal items after the interview.

We the applicants bring forth this petition asking the US Embassy to install a shuttle bus to take applicants back and forth to a specific location. The Embassy should also install a locker system that will store applicants personal belongings during the interview process. The locker fee and shuttle bus fee should also be incorporated within the applicant fee for visa to make it more convenient for applicants .
