As of the present, a disabled child, that attends high school in Buncombe County, NC cannot obtain a diploma! This is an outrage and a shame.
If a child attends 13 years of school and has passing grades, should be able to get a high school diploma. As well as walk across the stage at commencement services!
In my opinion this is discrimination against children with special needs.
We, the responsible adults of Buncombe County, should stand up for the rights of children with special needs.
They are being discriminated against by the Buncombe County Board of Education. These children work hard to finish school. They deserve the right of having a diploma and walking across the stage just like everyone else.
We want the school board to allow children with special needs to have the right to get a diploma.
