Demand President Trump to stop on uplifting the ban of Elephant trophy hunting in Africa

Dear President Trump,

We have tried to set aside our differences in opinion when it comes to some of the more reckless decisions you’ve made over your presidential term; however, we consider this a definitive step over the line. Killing an animal simply to showcase as a trophy is a disgusting and immoral practice. To take away the life of an animal for vain reasons, such as putting the animal’s beauty on display, and hanging its head on the walls, is barbaric, by every definition of the word. Are your actions based on the same misguided beliefs belonging to those engaging in this murderous behavior, or simply because you wish to undo everything your predecessor accomplished during his presidency to preserve the future of other species and this Earth? All of the progress made by President Obama – is it your intention to sabotage it? President Obama didn’t act solely for the sake of the lives of animals, but acted for the lives of humans as well. Preserving wildlife adds great value to our planet. A world without healthy ecosystems will only lead to more contaminated air due to drastic rising CO2 levels and polluted oceans. Humanity is already well underway in driving this planet to its 6th mass extinction, please do not aid in accelerating this process.

You are now the leader of the free world, and you’re making many of us embarrassed to be a part of it. We wish we did not have to speak out against such injustice. We wish you were smart enough to understand that trophy hunting does not preserve conservation, and that the blurred lines and lies these people try to feed the public to justify their sickness is bull****. We, Soldiers for Wildlife, are labeling the drastic decline of the elephant population as a GENOCIDE, because if there were a situation like this going on with humans, where we were losing 96 human lives a day to murder, that is what the world would classify it as. A genocide.

So now, Mr. President, you deem it appropriate to reverse this ban, and hand out permits for elephants to be MURDERED by Americans, while we are already losing over 30,000 a year from the fourth largest black market industry in the world – in effect, completely obliterating the elephant and rhino population? After recognizing what you are trying to accomplish with arctic drilling, the legalizing of killing wolves and bears in National Parks all over the country, and pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, it is hard not to be filled with feelings of absolute disgust and anger towards your actions. It is hard not to pity the new generations to come, who will suffer the consequences of such uneducated actions. However, it has become clear that you will continue to act in this reckless way, and listen to no one when it comes to the health of the planet, and the lives of other species across the globe. The lift of this Ban is an act of evil that only further supports this ongoing genocide. And before we know it, our planet will be lost forever.

I ask now that everyone take a moment and think about your leader, and the actions he is taking with the lift of this ban. Is money worth more than the existence of an entire species? Let there not come a time when we look back 20 years from now, having lost all these remarkable species and say to ourselves, "what have we done?" All because we wouldn't take a little time out of our day to sign a petition, write a letter, or donate to a worthy cause. In 10-20 years, elephants could be gone from the Earth. We all know how fast time goes by, and every day we stand by to these inhumane acts, we lose 96 more. We need your help, THEY need your help. #teamwild
