For far too long, women in Trinidad and Tobago have been forced to labour in public hospitals alone, without the support of a doula or significant other.
At the discretion of a nurse, a man/woman with a certificate from lamaze classes can enter to support, but if a c section is needed he MUST leave.
It's time for this to stop. It's time for women and men to speak up.
Your child can only be born once.... will you miss it?
I, the undersigned, call on the Minister of Health to take action to allow expecting fathers to attend the birth of their child because it is their right to not only support the laboring woman, but to experience the once in a lifetime birth of their child.
