Members of the drumlines from Weber, Bonneville, and Fremont High in Weber County School District in Utah are attempting to combine numbers and march as Boneville High Drumline in order to compete in the Utah Winter Drumline Circuit.
The reason we are attempting to combine is because no school has enough people alone to compete. The students were told that they could not join together because it is against policy and too much of a liability so each school should start their own drumline.
All the students want is an opportunity to compete together.
We, the undersigned, request that Weber County School District allow students from Bonneville, Weber, and Fremont High Schools to compete together in winter drumline events in order to promote each school’s music program and progress the skills of each individual student.
If Weber County School District will not allow students to compete under the title Bonneville High Drumline, then we ask the school board to allow them to create a Weber County School District drumline.
We want these students to have a chance to compete; without this combination they have none. A district sponsored drumline is their only real opportunity.
We respectfully request that Weber County School District show its support for these students and the marching arts and allow a combined competitive drumline in Weber County.
