On 15th February 2010 Patricia Thomson was walking through the underpass under Wester Hailes Road when she was viciously mugged at 10am in the morning.
We are outraged and upset about the lack of safety in this underpass. It is clear it is not fit for purpose and there needs to be an alternative. So many people don't want to use this underpass that they cross over a dual carriageway instead - this is clearly dangerous.
There needs to be pressure put on the local council to spend money improving areas that are unsafe and unfit for purpose.
We, the undersigned, call on Edinburgh Council to close down unsafe underpasses and put in a safe alternative. Too may people have been attacked.
These underpasses are not safe and people are putting themselves and young children at risk by using the road.
There needs to be change.
