The vacant duplex located at the corner of First Street and Cedar Avenue in Atwater is in terrible condition.

Every window has broken glass, and every doorway is in shambles. The location of the duplex makes its current state of disregard an embarrassment to the community.

The Bloss House Museum, where dozens of weddings have taken place, stands directly across First Street from the duplex. As seen in the enclosed photographs, the exterior of the duplex has been tagged several times with graffitti.

Within the past year, it was noted that the Bloss House was vandalized on the same night as the duplex.

The duplex must be brought into code, for the sake of the surrounding community, as well as for the city of Atwater. Either the owner clean up the site, or sell.

We cannot stand by and allow this sort of situation shape the image of our community.

We, the undersigned, call on the City of Atwater to necessitate the sale and/or renovation of the duplex at 950 & 960 Cedar Avenue.
