Change Traffic flow to make N. Ogden St and William St intersection safer

We the residents of Iron Island, Lovejoy district, have great concern over the safety issues at the fork of North Ogden St, and William St. Currently, there is a stop sign at the intersection allowing traffic to merge onto N. Ogden St from William St avoiding the traffic light at the corner. The issue is the blatant disregard of this sign making it extremely unsafe for residents to pull in and out of their driveways, pick up and drop off children from their buses, or to walk this area in general. Motorists do not stop; in the matter of a 4 minute time frame, over 20 offenders can be caught speeding through, or rolling past this sign making it impossible to live our lives without fear someone will get hurt or killed. At one time it was a yield sign, because of the numerous people that were hit by cars and the amount of accidents from motorists failing to yield, it was demanded by the residents to be changed to a stop sign to lessen the danger the yield sign posed. This has always been a dangerous area and when you add inclement weather the hazards only get worse.
We, the undersigned, propose a change in the demographic and traffic flow of this area. We propose to expand the park where the fork currently is by filling in, or blocking off, the portion of the road that merges traffic onto North Ogden St. (where the Stop sign is currently located) and to create a Right Turn ONLY lane heading west on William St. at the intersection of North Ogden St. In doing so, this would eliminate the stop sign all together and the dangers it presents by slowing traffic on a residential street where there are several pedestrians and children walking all hours of the day and night. It also adds aesthetics, and would look more inviting and welcoming as a main entrance to our community than what is currently there.
