DSST prides itself on educating students of color. However, DSST Stapleton is named after a prominent member of the Ku Klux Klan. We believe DSST should be a leader in ending the oppressive history associated with Stapleton and change its name to reflect the diversity of its students. Please join us by signing this petition and suggesting a new name for the school in the comments section.
We call on DSST CEO Bill Kurtz and the DSST Board of Directors to change the name of DSST Stapleton. We urge the CEO and Board to engage the community in selecting a new name.
