We came close.
The vast majority of American holidays are observed on specific days of the week. For example, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the third Thursday in November; Labor Day on the first Monday in September. The Fourth of July, more appropriatly referred to as American Independence Day, should be no different. This year Independence Day falls out on a Wednesday, making it exceptionally inconvenient for our hardworking Americans. If Independence day was observed on the first Thursday in July, the glorious American People would have the opportunity to take their extended holiday weekend to celebrate our wonderful country. As proud Americans, we deserve the opportunity to celebrate our existence as a nation.
This year July 4th is on a Wednesday, and its not so convenient for those hard working people, that they often cut short their celebration of this great country of ours. If we make Independence day the 1st Thursday of July annually, it would allow for people to spend more time with loved ones, making memories that they will treasure for a lifetime, as well as give their full attention to the sacrifices others have made, to protect our liberty.
