Target:
Lieutenant Governor’s office
Region:
United States of America

As most Alaskans know at this point, Alaska is in a serious financial crisis. Last year, our Governor vetoed a law that issues permanent fund dividends to Alaska residents. Shortly after, the Alaskan government announced a restructuring plan to use roughly half of Alaskan's dividends to help fix the states deficit.

There is no mention of any future limits, and while our state needs these funds to maintain our state, our future PFD is at risk.

We the undersigned, call on the state of Alaska to eliminate the Permanent Fund by October 1st, 2018. In doing so, 50% of the fund (As of 1/1/2017) will be divided equally to every eligible Alaskan citizen that was eligible to receive 2016 Permanent Fund dividend. Any remaining funds in the Permanent fund will be relinquished to the state of Alaska. Any future use of these funds, will require a majority vote from the (Alaska) House of Representatives. Any future use of these funds in excess of one billion dollars will require a majority vote from Alaskan citizens.
