West Kelowna City Council took the first steps last month toward approving what would be the biggest single development the city has ever seen. This development is located at 2211 Campbell Road which is the first agriculture area that you will come to as you come in from the bridge.
At this stage, the developer has proposed a “comprehensively designed lakeside community” that would include approximately 216 apartments, 85 town homes, 10 agri-tourism accommodations, a 180-room hotel, 241-slip boat launch, and the possibility of a 425-square-meter winery and restaurant (see picture above).
This proposal is inconsistent with both the neighborhood character of the single access Casa Loma community and is inconsistent with the Official Community Plan (OCP) for West Kelowna that does not support this area as high density residential and commercial area.
The undersigned are residents of Casa Loma and are opposed to the Blackmun Bay Development as presented to CWK Council as it will result in too much density in our community; will cause extreme traffic congestion during construction and after completion; will far exceed standards for access to emergency services and emergency evacuation : does not fit into the nature of the community: and, does not comply with the City of West Kelowna’s Official Community Plan.
