Campaign to Support a New School in Belmont, ON

Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) has recently initiated an Elementary Pupil Accommodation Review. (EPAR- 01). EPAR-01 identifies several issues; historical and projected enrolment, school condition and proximity to students, and existing school organizations. This proposal recommends the closure of 5 TVDSB elementary schools (South Dorchester Public School, Springfield Public School, Westminster Public School, New Sarum Public School and Sparta Public School) and proposes to build two new schools; one in Belmont and one in South East St. Thomas.

The Ministry of Education is currently providing funding for Capital Investments. School Boards are being provided funding to help build new schools in areas of high growth, to replace schools in poor condition and to support school consolidations.

A school in Belmont has been desired by the South Dorchester PS community, Westminster Central PS community and the community of Belmont for many years. The time is now! We must show our support, strength and solidarity.

The EPAR-01 proposal offers a momentous opportunity for our children and our community. We must ensure that our Trustees know we support the proposed new Belmont school. We must also ensure that our Trustees know that this is the best decision for our children. The proposed new K- 8 elementary school will offer our children modern and specialized facilities, upgraded technology and program enhancements in their rural community.
