California and Florida, in order to punish the actions of the mortgage lenders who often performed deceptive underwriting and often deceived borrowers, I petition all California homeowners who are in a negative equity position to STOP paying their mortgages TODAY.
Doing so will punish the lenders through the loss of their business, and bring the housing crisis to a quicker end by dropping asset prices more quickly. If these two large states stop paying their mortgages, there are simply not enough resources to foreclose each home, so it is conceivable that many distressed borrowers will receive several months free living expenses.
