In the Belmont and Highton area of Geelong there's no skate facilities for the youth. They have to travel to either Waurn Ponds or the Waterfront skate facility which is a fair distance away. Which can be hard during school holiday's for parents because they need to work.
None of the youth areas offer enough shade for people who suffer illnesses involving the sun (eg- cancer). And the area is completely visible from the road so it will be a safe place for kids to hang out and not have to worry about criminals and graffiti. All up it is a perfect spot for this facility.
In the South Geelong, Belmont and Highton area of Geelong there's no skate facilities for the youth. They have to travel to either Waurn Ponds or the Waterfront skate facility which is a fair distance away. And the quality of the Waurn Ponds skate facility has degraded over time.
It can be hard during school holiday's for parents to get there kids to these spots because they need to work. None of the youth area's offer enough shade for people who suffer illnesses involving the sun (eg- cancer). And this is an area that offers shelter from the extreme weather conditions through winter.
And the area is completely visible from the road so it will be a safe place for kids to hang out and not have to worry about criminals and graffiti. All up it is a perfect spot for this facility.
