Build Searcy a new skatepark

The city of Searcy is home to 24,000 people, not including the thousands of people who attend Harding University every year or the sorrounding cities. Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of these people skateboard, rollerblade, BMX, or ride scooters. In the last 15 years the skatepark has changed and declined to the point where it seems as though it’s been forgotten about. There has been a lot of money spent on other recreational areas around Searcy, but not a dollar on the skatepark. Recently the park was moved to another concrete slab that is uneven and collects water where people would skate. As a skater, I have seen first hand the consequences of not having a good, fun skatepark to utilize. Rarely do people go to the skatepark anymore. Most of us have to resort to skating around the city in places such as Harding, Searcy High School, and other places where we are not typically welcome. A better skatepark would also attract people from many different towns and cities across Arkansas, which means more revenue for our local businesss. We deserve more. We deserve to have a better skatepark. Please help us to achieve this goal.
